An upscale fight den and bar, located deep within a dominantly Royalist-held section of Ul'dah, The Viper's Nest is the passion project of the Almasi Trade Consortium, a place where vice and business freely collide, and dealings both above board and under the table take place in equal measure. Profit is Worship, the Twin Vipers are quick to remind, and consequently it is extremely rare for any to be turned away here--though Monetarists would do well to remember whose house they're in.Criminal Elements | Nonsexual NSFW | Slave Trade RPers DNI

Rules

Out Of Character

1. Staff will have Looking to Meld tag on. Please listen to them.2. Don't be a jerk. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but hate speech, harassment, and the like have no place here. We may be curating a space where crimebags can do crimebag things, but we're an inclusive bunch and being an ass isn't going to fly. If you're asked to stop doing something or discussing something, do so the first time. We're not in the habit of asking a second time.3. The venue, discord server, cross-world linkshell(s), and any other associated spaces are at all times 21+. This means OOCly, we expect you to be an adult. ICly, this means no child characters.4. Avoid godmodding, metagaming, etc. Try to be considerate of what other people are doing in roleplay. If something that you'd like to do is sudden or might disrupt the flow of a scene already going on, don't be afraid to ask if it's okay to go through with what you've got in mind.5. IC =/= OOC and we value the ability to keep the two separate. Hopefully, you feel the same way.6. Do not engage in public ERP in the venue. Do not engage in public ERP in the venue. Do not engage in public ERP in the venue. This being a 21+ space does not give you free rein to be an unhinged degenerate. Live your life and write what makes you happy, but please keep the spicy stuff private and on your own time.

In Character

1. Please listen to the staff. All of the staff. Their last name doesn't have to be Almasi for their word to have weight--they're employed here for a reason, in the end. If they verbally check your behavior, that should be the beginning and end of it.2. Try to keep fighting confined to the pit. If you absolutely have to get into it with someone outside of that, take it outside. No, really. That's what the sparring area in the yard is for. Partially. You're on your own there, though.3. The pit is heavily warded by some pretty potent (and expensive) magics to protect onlookers. This means that the pit technically has no limits on what is/isn't allowed, weapons/magic wise, but as a general courtesy we ask that you at least try to be sane and reasonable with what you make use of.4. Betting is allowed and handled by NPC bookies on the upper floor in the enclosed area near the entrance. Currently, all official betting is done through NPCs and with RP gil only.5. Fatalities are allowed within the pit. The Almasi family certainly doesn't lack for the means to pay out bribes and restitution in the event of such, but this comes with stipulations. Fights to the death are intended to be a rarity, a severe thing and an out-of-the-norm spectacle for those in the audience. They must be coordinated with a member of staff with verifiable proof from both participants that the outcome is planned and agreed on.

Fight Mechanics

This event runs on Grindstone rules and makes use of both /random (for rolls) and /yell (for combat emotes)! Fights will have a soft time limit of 30 minutes in order to keep things moving throughout the night!1. Both opponents roll initiative. The highest roll wins and attacks first.2. The attacking player writes their post in a custom emote using /em. After posting, they roll the die.3. The defending player rolls their die to defend. If the defender rolls higher than the attack, they have successfully avoided damage. A lower roll means they have been struck. In the event of a tie, reroll both attack and defense. Regardless, after determining the result, the defender then posts their /emote to show the effect and makes their attack attempt.4. Switch roles and repeat. The defender is now on the offensive and the attacker is defending.5. First person to win three turns wins the match!

Meet the Staff

Lavender and Caedenal Almasi

Owners

While the Viper's Nest is, ostensibly, owned by all five of the Almasi siblings, the beating heart of the venue can be found in the eldest of the brood, the Twin Vipers themselves--Lavender and Caeden. A lingering and deep-rooted love of bloodsport and opulence in equal measure comes together here to give rise to something that is uniquely theirs, forged with the support of those closest to them. The Trade Princess and Trade Prince can most frequently be found tucked in a quiet booth with good company to watch the fights, but should the mood strike, they're quick to take to the pit.

Anessa Almasi

Lead Medic

The youngest of the Almasi brood, the Little Viper brings an expertise in both conventional and aetherical healing to the Nest. Despite her laissez-faire reputation, she's as capable as any of her siblings and a steely professional when the need arises. Will absolutely keep you from bleeding out but may make you feel stupid about it afterwards.

Xyphris Zeddicus

Head of Security (Begrudgingly)

He acts like he doesn't want to be here, and there's a very good chance he doesn't. Not really. He's good at what he does, though, and the Almasi family trusts him explicitly. Even if he's a giant brat.

Arken Rennatta

Announcer/Security

Did he just sort of stumble into getting paid to be here along with most of his friends? Yes. Is he loved and appreciated anyhow? Also yes. Charismatic enough to keep the fights interesting and loud enough to ensure everyone present knows it, Rennatta also has the authority to physically remove anyone causing an unfun amount of trouble. He'd prefer not to, though, so... maybe just behave?

Harper Delacroix

Operations Manager

As sharp and as cunning as she is lovely, only a fool would take Harper to be nothing more than a pretty face. Having earned a sort of confidence from the Vipers that few others can claim, she's uniquely positioned to handle a variety of matters within the Nest. From fielding business inquiries to working the books to ensuring patrons are having a good time, Delacroix does it all (and looks damn good doing so, in the opinion of the twins).

Daellaryn Zaram

Lead Bartender

Seeing much, saying little, and hearing absolutely everything are but the basics of what Dae brings to the Nest. A multitasker without peer, he's quick to remember those who pass through--good and ill in equal measure. Quick with a smile and a generous pour (for those who deserve it, at least), your secrets are safe with him.
Mostly.

Sophie Saint-Saëns

Waitress

Her only goal in life is to see people fed and happy. Bafflingly Ishgardian. If you're mean to her, literally everyone else on the payroll will probably try to kill you. Very proud of the fact that she didn't cry once when Lavender tried to teach her to pronounce the menu offerings.
